HourZen — Privacy Policy

HourZen ("the App") is a workforce time-tracking application operated by
CID ENTERPRISES LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains
what information the App collects, how it is used, and the choices available to you. By using
HourZen, you agree to the practices described here.
Who uses HourZen
HourZen is used by two types of people:
- Employers / administrators — business owners who create a company account and manage their workforce.
- Workers and supervisors — employees who clock in and out using a numeric PIN provided by their employer. Workers do not create individual accounts.
Information we collect
We collect only the information needed to record work hours and calculate pay:
- Worker profile information (entered by the employer): first name, full name, a numeric PIN, hourly pay rate, and role.
- Time records: clock-in and clock-out timestamps and the associated work date.
- Location data: your device's GPS coordinates (latitude, longitude, and accuracy) captured only at the moment you clock in or clock out. Location is used to help your employer verify attendance. The App does not track your location continuously or in the background.
- Tip amounts (where applicable), entered by a supervisor.
- Device information: basic technical details such as your device/browser identifier (user agent), used to associate a punch with a device and to help troubleshoot.
- Push notification token: if you allow notifications, a device token is stored so your employer can send you work-related notifications (for example, shift reminders).
- Employer account email: employers sign in with an email address and password for authentication.
How we use information
- To record and display work hours and shift status.
- To calculate regular pay, overtime, and tips.
- To help employers verify where and when attendance was recorded.
- To send work-related push notifications and clock-out reminders.
- To operate, secure, and improve the App.
How information is shared
- With your employer. Time records, location captured at punch time, and pay information are visible to the employer who manages your company in HourZen. This is the core purpose of the App.
- With service providers that operate our infrastructure:
- Supabase — secure database and backend hosting.
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — delivery of push notifications.
- App distribution platforms (Apple App Store, Google Play) for delivering and updating the App.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Data storage and security
Data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure and transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections.
Access to company data is restricted by row-level security so that each employer can only access
their own company's records. Worker PINs and time data are never exposed to the public.
Data retention
We retain time records and related data for as long as the employer's account is active, or as
needed to comply with legal, payroll, and recordkeeping obligations. Employers may request deletion
of their company's data, and workers may ask their employer or contact us to have their personal
information removed, subject to applicable law.
Your choices
- Location: you can deny or revoke location permission in your device settings. The App will still let you clock in and out; the location will simply be recorded as unavailable.
- Notifications: you can disable push notifications in your device settings at any time.
- Access and deletion: to access, correct, or delete personal information, contact us using the details below.
Children's privacy
HourZen is a tool for managing employment and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly
collect personal information from children under the age of 16.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating
the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, within the App.
